Jonathan Wong is an Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and a top 2% scientist in biotechnology in Stanford University Ranking 2024. He is currently a Top Talent Professor of the Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Engineering of the Dongguan University of Technology, a Professor Emeritus of the Hong Kong Baptist University, and a Director of the Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre. His research expertise is in the area of solid waste management with specialization in bioconversion of organic wastes for energy and added value products. He has won over 100 research grant from government, university and industry resources, totalling more than 200 million Hong Kong dollars. He has published over 550 SCI publication and conference proceedings with citation of > 25750 and H-index of 87. He has hosted many international conferences on solid waste treatment and disposal, and has been invited to give keynote speeches and special reports at more than 90 international conferences and seminars. He has also been invited to be the co-chair, special topic chair and department chair of the conference. He currently serves as the editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief, and editorial board member of several international SCI journals (including Bioresource Technology, Environmental Technology, Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy, and Detritus). He is also a member of the Malaysian Palm Advisory Committee, a fellow of the International Biotechnology Association, the honorary director of the Bioresource Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Bioengineering, and a founding fellow of the Hong Kong Environmental Professionals Association. Prof. Jonathan Wong has committed to promoting environmental protection for many years. He is a member of several advisory committees of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. He has served as the chairman of the Fisheries and Agriculture Advisory Committee, a member of the Environmental Advisory Committee, the vice chairman of the Environmental Conservation Movement Committee, and a member of the Sustainable Development Committee. He is currently a member of the Town Planning Board and the Northern Metropolitan Advisory Committee. He was bestowed with Medal of Honor and Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region respectively in 2011 and 2022 for his service and contribution to the Hong Kong environment and appointed as Justice of Peace in 2013.
